Outdoor Charcoal Grills

Outdoor Charcoal Grills
Who doesn’t love to cook out? Your backyard deck or patio can become a summer kitchen. I try not to cook inside any more than is absolutely necessary once the weather is nice. My charcoal grill has served me well in this capacity.
We cook burgers and chicken breasts in large quantities and freeze them for a taste of summer in the long, cold NY winters. Ok, I admit it. I have been known to shovel the snow away from it, don a jacket and cook out in winter too. We have been through several grills and worn them out completely.
I soak corn in the husk and grill it along with my meat. Clams and oysters grilled in the shell are so easy and delicious. They are self timed. When the shell pops open they’re done and you can dip them in butter or cocktail sauce and eat. I have even cooked breakfast on the grill. Sausage worked nicely but I did use a pan for eggs. That would have been way too messy, but toast worked really well.
This year we have been experimenting with grilled vegetables mixed in salads. Grilled corn is yummy in salads or salsa. Some of my vegetarian friends love grilled portobello mushrooms as burgers. I love mushrooms as a rule, but I just could not get past the slimey texture. I’ll have a real burger, thank you.
If you don’t have a lot of room outside, don’t let that stop you. Outdoor grills come in all sizes and shapes. You’re sure to find one that will work perfectly for you.
All the decorators tell you to bring the outside in when you decorate your home. I agree with the ones who bring the inside out. You can turn your deck, porch, balcony, or patio into an outdoor room complete with a kitchen. Just get yourself a charcoal grill and give your indoor kitchen a break.
